Dear Friends,

 

We participate annually in the JDRF One Walk® to help create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). We help raising money so JDRF can continue to fund life-changing research for the millions of people affected by T1D—including my own daughter, Stefanie.

T1D is a serious and stressful disease to manage.  Stefanie was diagnosed with T1D at the tender age of 6.  Her life and the life of our family changed forever that day.  She is now over 20 years old.  Since then, she has pricked her finger for blood over 20,440 times; she has given herself over 15,330 shots of insulin with a syringe; has gone through countless ups and downs in her blood sugar- causing significant side effects.  Stefanie is now a young lady who, because of this disease, matured at a very young age, taking on responsibilities for her health that not many adults can easily manage.  As a family, we support her and every other child who struggles endlessly with this disease. 

 

There is currently no cure for T1D. But there is hope.
