Newborn Photographer in Cypress TX, Time is of the Essence

As an in studio newborn photographer and outdoor family photographer, the time of day I choose to book my sessions is very important.

A baby session works best around eleven in the morning. Some newborn sessions can be lengthy, so ensuring everything is complete before dinner time, is ideal. There are times when parents plan their session immediately after a pediatrician appointment, and that also works well because by that point, babies are normally tired and will be sleepy during their photo session.

An outdoor session is best when the sun is close to the horizon. In the world of photography, this is called ”The Golden Hour”. Because lighting in crucial for photography, the placement of the sun, the amount of clouds, the trees offering shade are extremely important for the outcome of the portraits. If you’ve ever had an outdoor session with me, you might remember that I was probably looking for a shady area to pose you or maybe I waited for a cloud to come back and diffuse the sun so that we could continue. Some clients will ask to schedule an outdoor session around noon. Unless the day is overcast or I know the location has plenty of shade, I will not schedule at that time. Why don’t I want the sun to hit directly? Because it will produce very unflattering highlights and shadows, which are very very difficult to “fix” in post production. When hiring a photographer, my suggestion is to take their advice on location and timing, they will know what is best for achieving the beautiful memories you are expecting from them.
