When it comes to home decorating, you have two options: photos or digitals.
Photos are timeless and can decorate a home while bringing memories. Digitals don’t get seen and can get lost.
If you choose to display photos in your home, there are some things you should know about how to hang them on the wall.
Hanging pictures is a great way to personalize your space and make it feel like home. But if you don’t do it correctly, you could end up with crooked frames that don’t hang straight or pictures that fall off the wall and break when someone bumps into them.
Here are some tips for hanging your favorite photos in your home:
Use Command strips instead of nails or screws — They’re easy to use and won’t damage walls or frames as easily as nails or screws would. The best part is they come off without leaving any holes behind if you ever want to move them around again!
Digital photos stored on a computer, phone or tablet can get lost, stolen or damaged. Photos printed and framed can decorate a home while bringing memories to life.
Digital photos are easily shared, but they can also be lost, stolen or damaged by fire or flood. A single photo can cost hundreds of dollars to replace if it is lost in this way. The solution is to print your photos and frame them – or store them in archival quality albums – so that they last for decades and don’t need to be replaced as often.

The days of printing photos are over. Digital files are more convenient and cheaper than prints, but there are a lot of benefits to having photos printed as well.
Digitals can get lost
If you don’t back up your computer or have it stolen or damaged beyond repair, all those digital images will be lost forever. It’s easy to make copies of physical photos, but impossible to do so with digitals.
Photos can decorate a home
Digital files can’t be displayed on shelves or hung on walls like physical prints can. Digital images also aren’t very good for sharing because they don’t let people see what you saw when taking the picture. Photos give you the ability to share your memories with others in a unique way that digitals just don’t offer.
If you have a digital camera, you can take photos and print them on the spot. If you have a scanner, you can scan photos into your computer and save them electronically.
But photos are not just for digital cameras or scanners. They can be displayed on walls, tables and shelves in homes, offices, restaurants and retail stores.
Photos can bring back memories of special events such as weddings, graduations or birthdays. Photos also make great gifts for family members, friends and business associates.
You’re probably familiar with the debate over whether digital photos or printed photos are better. Here’s another question: which is more valuable — your photos or your digital files?
The answer might surprise you.
It's true that digital photos can be lost more easily than printed pictures. However, there are other factors to consider when deciding between the two types of photo media.
The best way to ensure your memories last forever is to have both printed and digital copies of them in different locations, such as a safe deposit box or a fireproof safe at home.
