Cypress TX Newborn Photographer, Pacifier?

I know many parents are specific about their decision to offer (or not to offer) their newborn baby a pacifier. As a mother of 5, I’ve had my fair share of reading articles about the subject. Some research supports the idea that a pacifier might “confuse” the baby; the term “nipple confusion“. Others, on the other hand, feel it is ok to give babies a pacifier, if it helps sooth them.

As for me, I did give in and offered a pacifier to all my kids. A few of them weren’t fans of it, but at times, it would help. I did take away the pacifier when I noticed the kids starting to teeth. In my mind, I wanted to avoid the teeth coming out crooked. At least that’s what my own mom taught me to do.

While at the studio, during a newborn photo session, I ask parents to please bring a couple of pacifiers as long as they are ok with it. It definitely will help keep baby calm. If parents do not want to give a pacifier, then no worries... I will manage soothing baby in other ways. For instance, I will rock them or gently pat their back. Either way, with or without a pacifier, as a photographer, I can work with both.
